Inspired By Friday Vol. 2

Inspired By Friday Vol 2

These two fellas just make my heart so happy! In the picture above, we went to see the Cowboys practice during training camp. It was my son's first "professional sporting event," and he LOVED it.

In other news, this palette by PUR Cosmetics may be my new fall palette. I love all of the warm tones in this palette, plus, it's talc-free and it won't break the bank.

This video by Jackie Aina, and this video by Too Much Mouth are my favorites this week. Finally, some suggestions for nude lipsticks for women of color! I get so tired of brands creating "nude" products that only come in beige. But that's another complaint for another day. I can't wait to try some of the Mented lipsticks that both lovely ladies mentioned.

I NEED to take a trip to Scotland to see this Harry Potter shop! If you didn't know, I love all things Harry Potter. It's my favorite book series of all time, and any Harry Potter experience I can have, I am down for it.

This outfit by Cara Loren is everything. I love everything about it. I love the boots, I love the dress, and the Louis, of course. Give me one of everything, please!

This skirt from the LC Lauren Conrad Runway Collection is gorgeous. It's perfect for fall and it's not that expensive (and it's on sale!), so I may have to do a little shopping ;-)

Cheers to the Freakin' Weekend,
LesLeigh J.

My Fashion Picks for Fall

Fall Fashion Wishlist.png

I am so ready for fall, you guys. I miss wearing boots and scarves, drinking warm beverages, and making delicious, spice-filled desserts.

As far as fashion goes, this year I find myself being attracted to colors that I normally don't care to wear. Berry colors are always (ALWAYS) right up my alley. However, navy blue, beige, and olive green? Usually, it's a hard pass. Still,

Berry Tones

Call it marsala or maroon, cherry or wine, I've been loving berry shades in clothing. I've always loved this color when it comes to fall and winter, but usually that was just when it came to tops. Now I'm drawn to all things berry, including shoes and handbags. I NEED these Doc Martens before fall is over, and this handbag matches them perfectly!

Beige Tones

Beige is not my color. It's not that it doesn't look good on me, it's just that it's too...beige. Usually, beige and tan tones are too boring to me. I am not an all nude outfit kind of gal, and really don't own much in the beige/tan family, but recently I've just wanted all things beige. These Nike sneakers would so chic with so many different outfits, and I feel like they can be dressed up or down. These beige lounge pants are perfect for relaxing at home or throwing on some flip-flops and running some errands.

Navy Tones

I don't own much navy clothing, and forget about navy shoes. Come to think of it, I don't really own much blue clothing in ANY shade. I want to change that this season, though, because I've really been feeling navy lately. Something about it is so sophisticated. You can wear navy to the office or on a date night out. These navy, velveteen Vans are to die for! They would look so cute with a maxi bodycon dress. And this blue jacket is the perfect transitional piece. I feel like you could wear it from now, all the way into the spring time.

Olive Tones

Okay, I for sure don't own a lot of green. Most of the green clothing I have is an emerald shade, and meant for winter. I certainly don't own a lot of olive tones, and I definitely don't own anything camo. I'm not sure why, though, because I actually love the way that olive tones look against my skin color. This olive green shirt is perfect for a more dressy jeans and t-shirt kind of day. And this camo sweatshirt would look super cute with some dark wash jeans and black combat boots, or sweatpants and Netflix ;-)

What tones are you loving for fall this year?

Cheers,
LesLeigh J.

Cayson's Camping Adventure Nursery Tour

I rarely ever do Saturday posts, but since today's post is picture heavy, I thought it would be good for the weekend.

We moved shortly after I finished Cayson's nursery, but I wanted to share the space where he lived for most of his life thus far. Not to mention, I worked really hard on it, so I deserve to show it off.

I hand painted the changing table, and my husband and I both painted the dresser. The dresser was mine from childhood, and the changing table is a vintage Jenny Lind from when my husband was born. Can it be considered vintage if it's only from the 90's?

That's the first ultrasound we ever had with Cayson, at around eight weeks pregnant. It feels like it was so long ago and just yesterday, all at the same time. In the middle is the sound machine, which is great when you start crib training your little one.

The decal above the crib is our Bible verse for Cayson, since his name means 'brave'. It's also cool that it comes from the book of Joshua, which is my husband's name (if you didn't know that already lol).

I wanted a nursery where the theme was evident, but not over-the-top or too babyish, and I really wanted a space that he could grow into. I really like how it turned out, and I can't wait to recreate it, with even more personal touches, once we're settled.

As for where everything came from:

Crib- Amazon (though we purchased ours from Target)
Decal- Wild Eyes Signs
Teepee Print, Bear Print & Teepee Shelf- Hobby Lobby
Bookshelves- Ikea (hand painted by me)
Glider & Ottoman- Amazon
Sound Machine- Amazon
Red Lantern- Amazon
Crib Sheet  & Changing Pad Cover- Amazon
National Parks Map Print- Belle Paper Market
Texas Camper Print- Inviting Moments

The items not linked or mentioned specifically were gifts from family. For more information on how I picked a theme, check this post

Happy Saturday, everyone!

Cheers,
LesLeigh J.

Etsy Home Decor Finds

I hope you guys had an awesome weekend!

I got to spend most of last week with family, which was really refreshing. My son is now in full crawling mode, so I'm having to chase him around every time he's not contained by a walker or playpen. Tips on keeping your kids in a limited space when you're unable to use baby gates?

Anyway. Today, I wanted to share my top finds for home decor on Etsy! If you're unfamiliar with Etsy, then you're missing out. It's an online marketplace where people and businesses can list their products for sale. It can be like thrifting or antiquing online; you never know what you're going to find, but there can be some real hidden gems!

For Your Walls

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

I love both of these light fixtures! If you've seen my wishlist, then you know I'm a sucker for industrial decor, and I just love the character these lights would add to a space. The art prints are lovely, and I may just put them up in our office. And who doesn't love a good looking wooden sign?

Furniture

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

All of my furniture picks are pretty rustic/industrial, which is what I would like for my home. If that's not your style, just search for the style and vibe you're looking for (i.e. modern, distressed, traditional) and I'm sure there's a shop that makes it or sells it!

Home Accessories

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6

My favorite items in this section are the Mason Jar Makeup Holder, and the Marble Coasters. All I have to say is, there are some pretty creative and crafty people on Etsy.

For the Kids

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

If you're looking to decorate a nursery, throw a baby shower, or buy a unique gift for a niece or nephew, Etsy is the place to look! A Land of Nod or Pottery Barn Kids teepee will run you upwards of $200, but the teepee I've linked is only $60. My favorite item, though, is the rain cloud mobile. How cute!

I did a ton of browsing on Etsy when I was planning my wedding, and some of the decor in my son's nursery is from a few of my favorite Etsy shops. I love supporting the handmade market anytime I can, because people really do put their heart into these items.

Maybe I'll do a round up of jewelry next. Or cosmetics? Let me know what you'd like to see!

Do you shop on Etsy? If so, what are your favorite shops? Please share!

Cheers,
LesLeigh J.

Springtime Fashion Favorites

LesLeigh J. Springtime Favorites

Warmer weather is slowly but surely starting to stick where I live, and I am SO excited about it. I am not at all a cold weather kind of gal. Like, snow is cool for Christmas and all, but after that, give me blue skies and sunshine all day, everyday.

With the warm weather showing up more often, I'm looking forward to pumping up my wardrobe with a few new tops, dresses, sunnies, and sandals. Plus, a cute handbag never hurt anyone.

I love off-the-shoulder tops and dresses for Spring. I think they're fun and flirty, and they work well for a date night with your man, or a day out with the fam. You can even switch out some flat sandals for some wedges to take look straight from day to night.

My favorite shoes in this collection are the Jeffrey Campbell Rodillo wedges. He came out with them last year, and I didn't get a chance to get them, but I might this year! He also has a new, similar looking sandal out called the Rayos wedge. They have that same razor-cut design to them, but the pattern is a little different and I am LIVING for it.

I also love the mint green, floral tee. It's a nice way to be casual and look like you actually tried with your appearance at the same time. It would be great with some distressed shorts and Birks.

Now I'm off to convince my husband that I absolutely NEED $150 sandals. It's life and death, folks.

What are you looking forward to when the warmer weather hits? What's your favorite item in this collection? Let me know!

Cheers,
LesLeigh J.

Bits + Pieces

Happy Monday, Pals!

Here are some bits + pieces (in iPhone pics) from my life over the last couple of weeks.

Bits + Pieces One - L.J. The Inspired Life

This little guy is trying to learn to crawl! I cannot believe it. It literally still feels like he was just born yesterday, and now he's already trying to sit up and crawl. He is in such a cute phase right now! He's got so much personality and he's so fun to be around. He's already got such a sweet disposition. He loves playing, exploring, and snuggling. I can't believe I've been blessed with such a precious little boy.

Valentine's Date- L.J. The Inspired Life

Joshua and I went on our Valentine's date the Saturday before Valentine's Day, and we had such a fun time! I haven't gotten dressed up like this in a while, so it was nice to get a little fancy for the evening. My outfit was also 100% affordable. I think everything cost maybe $55. What a steal...

Chicken Pot Pie- L.J. The Inspired Life

I've been working on creating my own scratch recipes for homestyle favorites. Recently, I made my first chicken pot pie, and it was DELICIOUS. I'll be honest, I didn't make the crust from scratch, but I can work on that later. Don't you just love it when you make a recipe for the first time and it turns out exactly how you wanted?

In other news, I'm currently...

Watching: Big Little Lies on HBO. I read the book so naturally, I have to watch the show. And Joshua and I are watching The Crown while we wait for House of Cards, OITNB, and Game of Thrones to return.

Reading: My mom's book! It's a sci-fi novel, without being TOO sci-fi. I don't want to give too much away, but it's about time travel. If you're into sci-fi, or young adult fiction, you should check it out on Amazon! I'm also reading Bossypants by Tina Fey. I love her!

Planning: An anniversary party for my in-laws! This year, they will be celebrating 30 YEARS of marriage. That's amazing, and especially so considering half of their generation has gotten divorced. I don't know about you, but I actually enjoyed wedding planning (for the most part). Party planning is so fun to me, so I'm excited to do this for them.

Wanting: A vacation! We have one planned for later this year, but I could definitely use one now, you feel me?

What have you guys been up to lately? Share!

Cheers,
LesLeigh J.
